Description
Injury management for exercise professionals involves a multidisciplinary approach combining immediate care, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies. Initial care often includes the RICE methods (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) for acute injuries. Later phases focus on regaining strength and flexibility through supervised exercise and addressing the root cause of the injury to prevent recurrence

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
• Understand basic injury pathology, including acute vs. chronic injuries
• Explain the stages of tissue healing and their implications for exercise programming
• Differentiate between pain, discomfort, and injury-related symptoms
• Define the role and limitations of exercise professionals in injury management
• Recognize situations requiring medical referral or clearance
• Modify exercises to accommodate common musculoskeletal injuries (e.g., shoulder, knee, back, hip, ankle)
• Design safe, goal-oriented exercise programs that support recovery and function
• Adjust intensity, volume, and range of motion according to healing stage
• Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and other clinicians
• Identify common risk factors for injury in exercise settings
• Recognize signs of acute injury requiring immediate action

• Should be able to read, understand and write basic English
• Should be over 18 years of age at the time of enrollment
